About Perry
Perry Smith is a visionary entrepreneur and accomplished General Contractor with nearly 30 years of experience in the construction and development industries. Raised as the son of a builder, Perry grew up surrounded by blueprints, subcontractors, and job sites — cultivating a deep understanding of the building process from an early age. At just 24 years old, he purchased his first piece of commercial property and, alongside his father, constructed his first amusement park on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This inaugural project sparked a passion that would shape his life's work.
Building an Enterprise
Perry quickly expanded into additional amusement parks across the Smoky Mountains, Nashville, and Branson, Missouri, before launching full-time into construction and development. Later, he founded Perry Smith Development and Perry Smith General Contracting — two of East Tennessee's most respected names in residential, commercial, and luxury real estate development. Today, he owns and operates a portfolio of 24 companies spanning tourism, construction, property management, and retail.
A Track Record of Communities
Over the past two decades, Perry has successfully developed raw land into thriving communities, including two residential subdivisions featuring over 100 single-family homes each. He has constructed five apartment and townhome communities and built dozens of luxury investment properties in the Great Smoky Mountains — ranging in size from 2 to 26 bedrooms and valued in the multi-million dollar range. His property management division owns and oversees more than 600 long-term rental units and 50 luxury short-term rentals.
A Family Legacy
Renowned for his ability to envision the potential in any space, Perry combines strategic insight with operational excellence. As a principal contractor, he remains personally involved in every phase of construction. Beyond his professional achievements, Perry is most proud of the legacy he's building with his family, having trained his three sons — Blaid, Coleson, and Rylan — to work alongside him, continuing the Smith tradition of hands-on excellence and entrepreneurial spirit.
